The Nicene Creed makes the following statement “For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human.”
Why did we need a Savior?
The Bible records that originally, we were created male and female in the image of God and the Bible records that God said this was all “very good”. (Genesis 1:27-28 and 31). But the Bible also records that we as a human race fell into sin, or rebellion against God very early in our history (Genesis 3). From that time to this our need of a Savior is evident. Our history is filled with violence, bloodshed, deceit and wickedness of every kind. We literally became slaves to our sin.
God in his mercy did not want to leave us in that state of affairs so he sent his Son Jesus the Christ to be our Savior. As John 3:16-17 tells us he sent him to give us eternal life, not to condemn us, if we would just believe on his name. Galatians 4:4-7 tells us that God sent Jesus at just the right time to buy our freedom from the Law which condemns because of the sin we all have.
I will be sharing more on this topic this Sunday at Forsyth UMC in Forsyth, IL.
If a person will turn away from their sins and turn to Jesus they will find full forgiveness of their sins, they will be adopted as the very children of God, and they will have eternal life.
Have a blessed day and wonderful eternity!
